Insight Studio Tour| Behind the Scenes at Diablo Canyon

Join us on Friday, April 3, for an Insight Studio Tour that will give you a unique, behind-the-scenes exploration of the grounds and day-to-day operations of Diablo Canyon Power Plant. Attendees will be provided a boat ride marina tour and a picnic lunch at a remote site rarely included in a tour. We anticipate a lunch surrounded by California poppies which will include a land preservation presentation from a biologist. This tour is a can’t-miss opportunity to dive into the energy powerhouse driving our region forward. 

We’ll begin our morning by touring the marina (weather and ocean conditions permitting), then dive into a Control Room Simulator Tour and safety dialogue. We’ll visit the power plant’s onsite public safety facilities and meet with their Fire Chief before visiting the Spent Fuel Storage facility and having a discussion on the safety and reuse of Spent Fuel. 

Finally, we’ll drive to North Ranch for a picnic lunch and presentation/discussion with a Terrestrial Biologist on land protection and preservation measures alongside the blooming California Poppies before wrapping up the tour around 1:30.
